Honouring a Legend in his Native Land
Is it right that Dave Gallaher’s achievements are unknown in the land of his birth?

Letterkenny Rugby Football Club is a small band of committed enthusiasts who are struggling to attract players, sponsors to the gospel of rugby in County Donegal, a corner of the north-west of Ireland. Where we live, rugby comes third or fourth in terms of team sports behind soccer, Gaelic football and athletics.

Formed in 1973 – coincidentally a hundred years after Dave Gallaher was born – our club is the one closest to the great man’s birthplace in Ramelton. At one stage our ground was located halfway between Letterkenny and the village of Ramelton, and was called The Half Way Line.

This year is the 100th anniversary of the Originals visit to Dublin and we plan to raise awareness of the side’s captain, Dave Gallaher, with a series of exciting initiatives.
